Dame du Soleil
Amplifying the voices of Afghan girls and women
Dame du Soleil shines again
For its second edition, the VATANDAR association returns on 6 March 2026 in Paris to amplify the voices of Afghan girls and women. This cultural and civic evening will take place from 6:30 PM at the Mairie du 19ème arrondissement — a space for memory, solidarity and hope.
From Paris, we send a clear message to the world: Afghan women are not alone. The sun of hope keeps shining.
Nuria, the girl who dresses as a boy to survive
Her story is that of thousands of women deprived of work, education and freedom.
Nuria dresses as a boy in order to work and provide for her family. Her story is not an exception — it reflects the daily reality of thousands of women and girls stripped of their most fundamental rights under the gender apartheid imposed by the Taliban regime.
Through "Dame du Soleil 2026", VATANDAR gives visibility and voice to these silenced stories. On International Women's Day, we discuss gender apartheid — a phenomenon that strips millions of women of their most basic human rights.
Afghan women are not alone
This image tells the story of two generations — one in chains, one dreaming of freedom. At "Dame du Soleil 2026", we say together that the voices of these women must be heard.
The star of the evening
Marina Golbahari, known worldwide for her role in Siddiq Barmak's film "Osama", will take part in the roundtable discussion on gender apartheid in Afghanistan. Her personal journey embodies the resilience of Afghan women and gives this event a rare, deeply human and committed dimension.
